Parijat Desai Dance Company will be performing at Los Angeles's Skirball Cultural Center on Thursday, March 22, and Friday, March 23. We'll be presenting 2 daytime lecture-demonstrations for high schoolers as well. This program represents the Skirball's first National Performance Network residency.

Dancers performing at Skirball are Cindy Chung, Parijat Desai and Mohan Kulasingam, as well new dancers Emi Komatsuzaki and Riyo Mito (who joined us in November!). Should all go well in the next 2 weeks, we will be presenting three dances: Quiet/Fire, Still Rewiring, and The Wall.

For Quiet/Fire, we are thrilled to finally be working with the completed score played by an array of fabulous musicians: Cristian Amigo (guitar), Sanjay Cherubala (mridangam), Sameer Gupta (drumset), Mohan Kulasingam (nattuvangam), Shobana Ram (vocal), Arun Ramamurthy (violin), and Gautam Siram (mridangam/kanjira).

We are also presenting a new work-in-progress, Still Rewiring, to hip and textured electronica by Vijay Iyer, David Kalal and Badmarsh & Shree. We will close with The Wall, based on a folk tale told to poet A. K. Ramanujan by his grandmother.

Hope to see you, or if not, send your friends!

MADE POSSIBLE IN PART BY A GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL PERFORMANCE NETWORK (NPN). MAJOR CONTRIBUTORS OF NPN INCLUDE: DORIS DUKE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION, FORD FOUNDATION, NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS, ALTRIA, AND THE NATHAN CUMMINGS FOUNDATION.
