PARIJAT DESAI DANCE COMPANY AT QUEENS MUSEUM OF ART
~Our only NYC performance in 2005~

Come check us out at the QMA Thursday, August 19, in a free performance in the lovely Flushing Meadows Corona Park, along with a great ensemble of musicians. If you can't make the show, you're welcome to check out a rehearsal in the Triangle Gallery (see below for dates). Make sure you leave plenty of time to get there--

Lester Horton-award winner Parijat Desai seamlessly weaves together bharata natyam, modern dance and other movement forms to create choreography in which "rhythms crackle" (LA Times) and "clarity and flair predominate" (India Post). Her contemporary dance group Parijat Desai Dance Company will perform two pieces: Rewired, set to drum and bass tracks from the UK's Asian underground, and Quiet/Fire, a blend of dance and martial art that explores the nature purpose of a warrior.

Dancers performing: Aditi Dhruv, Cindy Chung, Parijat Desai, Shobana Ram. Musicians accompanying are Cristian Amigo (guitar/ambient sound), Guillermo Cardenas (percussion), Mohan Kulasingam (nattuvangam), Shobana Ram (vocal), Arun Ramamurthy (violin), Gautam Siram (mridangam).
